The main attraction is the culture of local people"Dayak" tribe who live at the bank of Mahakam river and its tributaries. Some villages that can be visited are : Dayak Benuaq, Dayak Mondang, Dayak Kenyah, Dayak Bahau, Dayak Tunjung and Dayak Punan. The lake and the trip down the creek offer a fascinating view of the surrounding natural scenery and longnosed monkeys abound in the forest along the banks.The Dayak still adhere to certain traditions such as wearing heavy earring which elongate their pierce ears and blackening their teeth. Though predominantlyCatholic, The Benuaq Dayaks believe in the existance of the spirit of their ancestors and still keep to some animistic rites as well as having their believe faith in the mysthical powers of material things.

04DAYS/03NIGHTS MAHAKAM RIVER – DAYAK TOUR

DAY 01: BALIKPAPAN – TENGGARONG – MAHAKAM RIVER
On arrival at Balikpapan Airport, meeting service and direct transfer to Tenggarong. Visit the former palace of Sultan Kutai Kertanegara (Museum) to observe the Sultan’s collection of antique Chinese ceramics, heirlooms of the former Sultanate and other historical artifacts and crafts representing the Dayak cultural heritage. The exciting trip continues on a house boat along the Mahakam River to Muara Muntai. Accommodation and meals on the boat.

DAY 02: MUARA MUNTAI – TANJUNG ISUY
Arrival at Muara Muntai, sightseeing of the village to see the way of life and daily activities of the people. The Wooden village, floating market, etc. Further cross over lake Jempang to Tanjung Isuy (by motor-canoe in low-water season). On arrival you will be welcomed with a traditional ceremony and cultural dance of Banuaq Dayak. Afterward visit a Dayak’s village Mancong to observe the Grand Old Long House. Meals will be provided, overnight stay at LAMIN/LONG HOUSE in Tanjung Isuy.

DAY 03: TANJUNG ISUY – TENGGARONG – BALIKPAPAN
After breakfast return to Muara Muntai, going downstream to Tenggarong, proceed directly to Balikpapan. Lunch will be provided. Dinner and accommodation at BENAKUTAI Hotel.

DAY 04: BALIKPAPAN – OUT
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for your flight to the next destination.

05DAYS/04NIGHTS MAHAKAM RIVER – DAYAK TOUR

DAY 01: BALIKPAPAN – TENGGARONG – MAHAKAM RIVER
On arrival at Balikpapan Airport, meeting service and direct transfer to Tenggarong to board a house-boat for the exciting trip along the Mahakam river to Muara Muntai. Meals and overnight on the boat.

DAY 02: MUARA MUNTAI – TANJUNG ISUY – MELAK
Arrival at Muara Muntai wooden village to see the way of life and daily activities. Further cross over lake Jempang to Tanjung Isuy. Welcome ceremony and Cultural dance of the Banuaq Dayaks. Early evening return to Muara Muntai and continue the trip to Melak. Meals provided. Accommodation on the boat.

DAY 03: MELAK – KERSIK LUWAI – KOTABANGUN
Early morning arrive at Melak. Halfday excursion by motor-cycle to Eheng to see the Tanjung Dayak Long House. Continue the trip to Kersik Luwai to observe the natural forest with its Black Orchid. Depart for Kota bangun in the afternoon. Accommodation and meals on the boat.

DAY 04: KOTABANGUN – TENGGARONG – BALIKPAPAN
Arrive at Kotabangun in the morning, followed by sunrise safari along Kedang River. Afterward return downstream to Tenggarong. Visit the former palace of Sultan Kutai (Museum), then proceed to Balikpapan. Meals provided. Accommodation and dinner at BENAKUTAI HOTEL.

DAY 05: BALIKPAPAN – OUT
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to the next destination.

06DAYS/05NIGHTS MAHAKAM RIVER – DAYAK TOUR

DAY 01: BALIKPAPAN
Arrival at Sepinggan Airport, Balikpapan. Meeting service and direct transfer BENAKUTAI HOTEL Cocktail party with slide presentation, followed by dinner at the hotel.

DAY 02: BALIKPAPAN – TENGGARONG – MAHAKAM RIVER
After breakfast depart for Tenggarong to visit the Mulawarman Museum former Palace of Sultan Kutai Kertanegara, to view antique Dayak Woodcarvings porcelain, pottery, silver cloth, thrones, etc. Further continued on a house-boat along tha Mahakam river to Muara Muntai. Accommodation and meals on the boat.

DAY 03: MUARA MUNTAI – TANJUNG ISUY
Arrive at Muara Muntai wooden village, sightseeing among the local people, observing their way of life, the local market before crossing over lake Jempang to Tanjung Isuy. Welcome ceremony and Cultural dance of the Bunuag Dayaks. Meals and overnight at LAMIN/LONG HOUSE .

DAY 04: TANJUNG ISUY – KOTABANGUN
After breakfast an opportunity to sightseeing the village, the board the boat to Kotabangun. Proceed to Semayang lake to enjoy the beautiful panoramic during the sunset, while the rare species of white monkeys would accosionally appear on the trees along the banks and sometime the famous fresh water dolphins would appear accompanied by boats along the river. Meals provided, overnight at SRI BANGUN LODGE.

DAY 05: KOTABANGUN – BALIKPAPAN
After breakfast cruise down the Mahakam river to Tenggarong. A stop will be made at Senoni floating village. Lunch to be provided on the boat. Arrive Tenggarong direct transfer by bus to Balikpapan. Dinner and accommodation at BENAKUTAI HOTEL.

DAY 06: BALIKPAPAN – OUT
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to the next destination.
