NORTH SULAWESI

Comprising the northeastern arm of the island of Sulawesi the province of North Sulawesi streches north in to small island which are almost like stepping stones to the Philippines. The province is devided into four Districts : Minahasa,, Bolaang Mongondow, Gorontalo and the sangir Talaud island which have completely different cultures.
Manado, the capital of the Province is the entry point both by air and sea and has regular air and sea links with UjungPandang, Jakarta and Surabaya (Java), Balikpapan (Kalimantan), Ternate (Maluku) and Jayapura (Irian Jaya).
The area is highly mountainous, culminating in 54 peaks, some of which are volcanic and still active. The coast is made up of long stretches of virgin white sandy beaches sadd by palm trees and the sea bed is a natral garden of magnificent corals and colourful tropical marine life. The island of Bunaken, Manado Tua and several others just outside Manado bay are a veritable paradise for snorkelers and scuba enthusiasts.

DAY 01: MANADO
Arrive at Manado Airport, transfer to hotel. Manado city tour visiting victory monument, sea shell collection, Chinese temple orchid garden and Bahu beach.

DAY 02: MANADO
Breakfast and dinner at hotel. Fullday tour, visit the old graves of Minahasa tribes, the Waguras at Sawangan, Monument Dr. Sam Ratulangi at Tondano, Remboken tourist site at the edge of lake Tondano, Kawangkoan the Japanese caves, leilem industry village, Lahendong sulphurous hotsprings, traditional houses and Tingor highland. Lunch will be served enroute.

DAY 03: MANADO – OUT
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for next destination.

DAY 03: MANADO
Breakfast and dinner at hotel. Fullday tour, visit to mounbi, the palace of birth of Mrs.Walanda Maramis, one of the first Indonesia Women’s right leaders; Airmadidi; processing of dessicated coconut flour; Kema, a fishermen’s village; Bitung oceanport and fish market at Aertembaga. Lunch will be served enroute.

DAY 03: ANELAGAK – SUROBA – DOGUM – JIWIKA
After breakfast continue your adventure with all the porter walk to Suroba Village then proceed to Dogum to see Pig Feast and Etae dance performed by the natives. Dinner and overnight at Dogum or Lauk Inn at Jiwika.

DAY 04: MANADO – OUT
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for next destination.

SOUTH SULAWESI

No province has such a contrast of cultural traditions as South Sulawesi. Southern part, the seafaring Buginese and their sailing ships, rare orchids and butterflies. Tana Toraja, which lies in the north of the province have an unique culture based on animistic beliefs. Known for their grand Burial ceremonies and cliff or hanging graves, they practice an ancestor cult even today and death and afterlife ceremonies are of special interest.

Morning arrival at Hasanuddin Airport, Ujung Pandang. Meeting service and direct departure for Toraja. The approximately 9 hour trip takes across Bugis Villages with their typical houses on poles, and along magnificent mountain passes. Lunch will be served at a Chinese restaurant in Pare-Pare. Late afternoon arrival in Rantepao, check in at hotel for dinner and overnight.
